The Arrow 500 VMC is said to make it easy to buy into CNC vertical machining.The Wolfpack machine offers full CNC capability, premium performance and a comprehensive array of standard features. Engineered for high productivity, the Arrow value package includes a 21-tool automatic toolchanger, full 10 HP (7.5 kW) cuts across a wide speed range, fast machine response with superb accuracy, total work enclosure, and PC-technology-based Acramatic 2100 CNC. Little brother to the Arrow 750 (30 x 20 x 20" work cube), the Arrow 500 features 20 x 20 x 20" (510 x 510 x 510 mm) X-Y-Z axis travel 27.5 x 20.5"1 (700 x 520 mm) work surface, and 770-lb (350 kg) load capacity. High ACC and DEC rates maximise thd benefits of the Arrow"s 787 IPM (20 m/min) rapid traverse rate. Programmable feedrates extend to 472 IPM (12 m/min). Linear guideways-with sliding friction as low as 1/50th of conventional guideways-enable highly reduced energy requirements and increased thermal stability. Accuracies are ?0.00016" (?4 microns) on positioning and 0.00004" (1 micron) on repeatability. The standard 10 HP (7.5 kW) MTDR, 6000 RPM, No. 40 taper spindle delivers peak power to the cut from 750 to 4500 RPM. The Arrow design provides exceptional machine rigidity, the result of finite element analysis aimed at maximising stiffness. Automatic tool change minimises setup times and maximises cutting time. The 21-tool magazine holds tools up to 12" (305 mm) long, 15 lb (6.8 kg) in weight and 31.5" (80 mm) in diameter (6.3"/160 mm in diameter with adjacent pockets empty). Large, sliding double doors open wide for ease of operator access. Viewing windows and built-in lights offer a clear view of the work area. The CNC is the new PC-technology-based Acramatic 2100 (A2100). This control manies two commercially available 486 microprocessors via a patented dual-processor design optimizing speed and flexibility, while making the system upgradable to the Pentium processor to keep pace with evolving technology. While primary programming access is by touch screen, the A2100 also features a convenient hand-held remote control pendanl The pendant is designed to end wasted back-and forth operator motions between workpiece and CNC in setting up and programming a job. It also lets the operator take the control panel to the job by providing everything necessary for setup.
