BILZ (LMT) has released a range of new products during EMO 2007. The company has developed the new (slimline) TSF ThermoGrip shrink chuck particularly for model and mould construction. They are ideally suited to inductive shrinking on carbide tools with shaft tolerance h6 (from D= 6 mm). For smaller shaft diameters, use h5 for D = 5 mm and h4 for D = 3 mm or D = 4 mm. Awkward edges are a thing of the past, thanks to the slender form of these new shrink chucks. The external geometry of the new TSF chucks has a 3° taper suitable for mould release. Their concentricity is < 3 µm. The comprehensive product family for all tool spindles means that appropriate lengths are available for every purpose. In the past, slimline chucks were designed for HSK 32 to 100 as well as for SK 40 and 50. The range has now been extended to include the BT 40 in time for EMO. The shrinkage time and generator power parameters for the relevant shaft diameters specific to the TSF shrink chucks will be stored in all new induction shrink devices of the ThermoGrip family. The parameters can also be installed into older device versions. Clamping and releasing even these very thin-walled shrink chucks is therefore a reliable process involving no risk of overheating.
