CNC Lathe With Linear Tooling

Cosmos Impex offers Quick-Tech 420E, a small cost effective CNC lathe with linear tooling. This fits in the gap between standard flat bed low-end CNC lathe and a CNC turning centre. In its basic version, the lathe is most suited for bar type component within dia 42 mm using collet chuck. By using standard three jaws chuck, a chucking job up to dia 85 mm is possible. By adding a tailstock with a centre, the machining of shafts can be done as well. The 10 station linear tool-post has a provision for 5 numbers of each ID and OD tools. Linear tooling can position the tool on work piece faster than a standard tool turret used on conventional CNC lathe, reduces idle time. Due to faster approach the machine is well suited as flexible, smaller universal lathe especially for tool-room application or for smaller production run. The machine employs 3 axes viz. X, Z and Y-axis unlike other conventional CNC lathe. Linear tool-post movement in X and Y direction achieve the precise tool positioning. The 5 HP spindle motor coupled with a high precision cartridge spindle provides 4500 RPM controlled through AC frequency inverter drive. The machine supports all fixed cycles and canned cycles applicable for a standard CNC turning machine. In it is incorporated an advanced PC based CNC controller with graphic tool path trace and cycle simulation facility to check the program before actual cutting. The machine is powered with Mitsubishi AC servo motors and AC servo drives on all 3 axes. The spindle motor is controlled through Mitsubishi inverter drive. The machine is supplied with bar-feeder, parts-catcher and finished parts conveyor to have unmanned operation for bar type of jobs.
