Sigma Mixers

Alpha Process Engineers offers Sigma Mixers that are ideally suited for medium to high viscosity solid-liquid media, where other machines like planetary mixer, helical-blade mixer, etc., prove inappropriate or inadequate. Sigma mixers are relatively power intensive, slow speed mixers wherein materials experience stretching, folding, dividing and recombination in the course of mixing and kneading operations. These mixers have a twin blade configuration, which rotate in opposite directions either tangentially or with a certain amount of overlap. Alpen Sigma Mixers are offered in a variety of blade configurations like conventional sigma “Z”, double Naben, dispersion, multi-wiping overlapping, etc. Careful attention has been paid in the design to eliminate/minimise leakage. Very close tolerances between blades and walls ensure faultless mix every time. Offered in compact, maintenance-friendly design, the principal benefits to the customer include short mixing times with efficient mixing, minimal product hold-up, low-operating costs, high energy-efficiency with attendant low-energy costs. Alpen Sigma Mixers feature double ended drives transmission through hardened gears. Jacketed versions with heating arrangements are offered. These are available in different models with batch capacity of 50 to 1000 litres per batch.
