Scalewatcher North America Launch New Industrial Units

Scalewatcher North America has launched a new range of electronic desealing units covering all types and sizes of pipe material ranging from 1/2" to 50". The product functions by using electric and magnetic fields generated by a coil wrapped around the outside wall of the pipework to be treated. Using ScaIewatcher"s patented frequency modulation technology, the current changes ;everal thousand times a second inducing a magnetic field within the pipe. This magnetic field creates an induced electric field inside the pipe which affects the electrically charged, dissolved ions of scalecausing minerals. A heat transfer surface, or a pipewall, usually provides the necessary points of nucleation for the accumulation of hard scale. However, if the scale mineral is able to precipitate and grow in the flowing water rather than at the pipewall, then no scale would form-the precipitated mineral would be transported through the process stream. The benefits are not limited to limescale. Gypsum (calcium sulfate), iron scales, bacterial fouling and even certain crystalline waxes can be treated. Improvements to processes have been achieved in a variety of industries including water treatment, the dairy industry crude oil production, chemicals manufacturing processes and paper manufacture.
