Furnaces and Heat Exchangers (Recuperators)

Encon Thermal Engineers designs and manufacture furnaces on turnkey basis for the following industries: rolling mills, forging plants, heat treatment centres, wire drawing plants, aluminium plants and steel plants. The company guarantees a fuel consumption of as low as 33 ltr/tonne for billet reheating furnaces. This can be reduced to as low as 22-24 ltr/tonne with the application of oxy fuel systems. It has recently redesigned, fabricated and commissioned a 40 tonne/hr billet reheating furnace for ISWPL, Jamshedpur, which is a subsidiary of Tata Steel. The old furnace was of bull nose design and was giving them lot of problems and the plant had to take frequent and long shutdowns to repair the roof and bull nose. Encon replaced this with a furnace of camel hump design. The company has done a similar job for Tata steel previously at Tata SSL. The energy savings on this furnace was phenomenal, with saving of US$ 150,000 every month and the amount spent on retrofit was just US$ 100,000. The company designs and manufactures recuperators, which can sustain flue temperatures of up to 950°C. The preheat temperature of combustion air can be designed to be as high as 510°C. Encon recuperators come with a guarantee to save 10-15% and a minimum life of 3 years.
