Atmospheric Evaporator

Supreme Fibre Glass offers Atmospheric Evaporator, a device that evaporates water from a solution to the atmosphere. It removes 90-95% water content from the effluent. This reduces drastically the size of effluent treatment plant. Atmospheric evaporator recovers costly plating chemicals from dragout. It is also possible to re-use evaporated water thereby reducing daily water requirement. In the atmospheric evaporator, solution is sprayed on a large area – sometimes called mass – pack, packing material or evaporative finned surfaces. Blower air is forced past the wet surfaces to pick up moisture and is then passed through the mist eliminator assembly to remove any airborne droplet. The moist air should be ducted to the outdoors, directly or through an existing ventilation system. Atmospheric evaporator can be used in: 1) Effluent treatment plant (ETP) – removes 90-95% water from any waste water circulation; 2) Printing – de-water wash water; 3) Photo processing – de-water spent rinse water; 4) Plating – to recover drag out, to reduce waste volume; 5) Anodising – chemical recovery, spent solution reduction; 6) Auto garage effluents; 7) Ink and chemical wash up; and 8) Pressure washer effluents. It depends on the Wet surface, forced air, and the available heat taken from the solution for evaporation. The atmospheric evaporator can: minimise waste treatment and sludge disposal costs; reclaim dragout chemicals; reduce operating costs; prevent solution growth; provide cooling for low temperature baths; increase profits; and payback period is one year. Advantages: operational concept is easily understood; evaporation does not require significant operator attention; this method does not require a wastewater discharge permit; evaporation is essentially unaffected by dissolved metal content in the waste water; and the method can handle many liquids with a high BOD5 or COD content, such as synthetic base fluids.
