Automatic Silt Density Index (SDI) Monitor

Nothing contributes to membrane fouling more than the amount of silt that passes through it. Ideally the pretreatment of RO water is supposed to take care of the SDI levels, but inadequacies in pretreatment will only be apparent once it is too late for the membrane. Manual monitoring of SDI is neither regular, nor reliable. It involves setting and maintaining a variety of parameters such as pressure, flow, level, etc. in strict accordance with standards set by the ASTM. The validity of the test greatly depends on the most unpredictable factor of them all: human skill. An online system, introduced in India by Potence Controls, is a picture of consistency.
