BHEL-EDN manufactures thyristorised digital converters, used for DC drives with constant power or constant torque control. Capability to conceptualise, design, manufacture, supply and commission wide range of variable speed DC drive systems, starting from a few kilowatts to thousands of kilowatts, many such converters are in service at rolling mills and process lines in industries like steel, aluminium, rubber, cement, coal and copper. Converters greater than 10,000 A ratings with digital controls have been supplied, thyristor stacks and bridges of different ratings, mounted in panels, are also being manufactured for use in such applications.
