DC Drive, High Range 4-Quadrant

Sprint Electric Ltd, U.K., has announced the extension of its SL/SLX 3-phase, 2- and 4-quadrant DC drive range to include models up to 115 kW at 460 V DC armature. Three new models above 50 kW are now available. These include the SL/SLX65 (155 amps), the SL/SLX 85 (205 amps) and the SL/SLX 115 (270 amps). The drives are designed to meet European and North American standards and are ideally suited for retrofitting on existing DC applications as well as being a useful space saver on new machines. They feature a compact size DC thyristor controller with a foot print of only 410 mm x 204 mm, and a depth of 187 mm. Competitively priced, these new drives are suitable for a wide range of power supplies from 200 V to 480 V three phase 45 Hz and can be used in the majority of countries throughout the world. On-board features include a fully regulated field bridge that can be switched to provide constant field current for accurate armature voltage feedback or automatic field weakening for extended speed control. Shaft direction is controlled by push-buttons or an external voltage signal. These versatile drives can be configured to any application via a comprehensive system of extra inputs and out- puts whilst on-board presets give control over all the important speed, current and voltage variables, etc.
