Curtis Instruments Inc announces a first-of-its-kind, on-board sealed battery charger, specially designed for industrial applications that expose the charger to moisture. Ideal for use in electric sweepers and scrubbers, this sealed charger is the first product on the market suited for this harsh environment. Due to its high efficiency and high power factor, the battery charger can be sealed without using a fan. Developed with the same power base as Curtis Model 1600 battery charger, the new charger is mechanically and thermally adapted for environments requiring a sealed unit. Features: completely sealed unit; has no need for a cooling fan; is a high frequency charger which allows it to be lightweight and compact; operates at a superior efficiency of 90 per cent, thus allowing for optimal thermal management (this is above the normal 80 per cent found in products currently on the market); achieves a near-unity power factor of .99; limits harmonic distortion of input current; and employs IVI (IUI) charging profile for optimal charging of lead acid batteries.
