Automatic Voltage Regulator

The Automatic Voltage Regulator finds applications in voltage regulation and stabilisation of AC power "on-load" for industries, high-rise buildings and research organisations. This is available from 10 to 5000 kVA, mainly in custom-built equipment rather than quantity produced ranges. The voltage fluctuation causes constant worries and costly downtime and reduces productivity of machines, resulting in serious damage to precision equipment. Industry today frequently needs a power supply of constant voltage or a supply that can be varied smoothly on load to control a process.

Advantages of HT AVRs: These units supply rated stabilised voltage to the transformer and thereby the utilisation of the transformer will be up to full rated kVA rating, offer protection from high/ low voltage fluctuation.

Advantages of LT AVRs: Transformer capacity is restricted, e.g., at lower input voltage, say 300 V in 500 kVA transformer for 433 V input, the actual capacity of the transformer will be reduced to (300/433) x 500 = 346 kVA.
