Coal Mill Isolation Valves

VAAS Industries offers a range of bi-directional valves designed to handle difficult media such as abrasive slurries. Series 970 knife gate valves comply with the requirements of the NFPA-85 standard applicable for coal mill equipment. In particular, they are designed to stand the equivalent of 50psi explosion pressure as required by this standard. These valves are used to isolate the mill from the boiler and are normally open. The media ? a highly erosive mixture of pulverized coal and air, passes through the valve at a very high velocity. To withstand such rigorous service conditions, the valve bore is suitably hard-faced. The valve bore is also equal to the pipe bore to offer unrestricted flow. An option of hard facing for the seat face is also available. The standard design features a carbon steel flanged body with stainless steel gate. Flange drilling usually complies with the norms of major coal mill suppliers such as BHEL, Mitsui-Babcock, Foster Wheeler and others. Options: Coal mill isolation valves can be supplied with manual, pneumatic cylinder or electric actuators and accessories as per requirement. The actuation usually preferred is a relatively quick closing pneumatic cylinder.
