SMI/Swastik diaphragm valves are composed of three main parts, namely, body, diaphragm and cover components. Unlike the globe valves, which have metal-to-metal touch seating, the diaphragm valves have rubber or resin touch seating, assuring a tight closure, and eliminating the lapping. The diaphragm valves offer a comparatively lower essure drop and are recommended for viscous fluid service, with their pocketless and unobstructed flow passage. The fluids are perfectly retained by the diaphragm in the flow passage chamber. The valves are smooth in manual operation, and there is a provision of a position indicator at the top of the stem, showing the open position in the same posture as a handwheel operated valve. The diaphragm valves have a wide range of applications, such as, chemical, synthetic fibre, oil, pulp, food, and brewing industries and water works, etc. They can be economically used on a line system where a quantity of valves are installed. The specifications are: line pressure: max 150 PSI, temperature: max temperature is shown on each diaphragm material, available size: 1/2 to 14 inches, face-to-face dimensions: adaptable to the requirements of the USAS 125 LB iron globe valve or to saunders type valves.
