Ball Valves, Alternative Fuel Service (AFS)

With working pressures up to 6000 psig (413 bar) at 250°F (121°C) and flow coefficients from 4.0 to 13.8, Swagelok alternative fuel service (AFS) 2-way ball valves meet the demands of hydrogen and compressed natural gas applications. The valves meet ECE R110 approval for use in natural gas vehicles, including buses, trucks, and cars and hold Class 0 approval as a higher cycle manual valve for service pressures up to 3625 psig (250 bar) at temperatures up to 250°F (121°C). Additional certifications include ANSI/NGV 3.1 service valve certification to 4500 psig (310 bar) and ANSI/NGV 4.6 Class A certification to 4500 psig (310 bar). The unique ultra low-temperature fluorocarbon O-ring material seals across the full temperature range of the valve (-40 to 250°F [-40 to 121°C]). Swagelok’s robust, spring-loaded, patent-pending seat design does not require adjustment after the valve is installed. All wetted components of the AFS ball valve are compatible with hydrogen and compressed natural gas (CNG). Fractional and metric Swagelok tube fitting end connections provide gaugeable make-up and consistent, leak-tight connections. ISO and NPT end connections are also available. One can choose from a heavy-duty quarter-turn directional handle, a Swagelok rack and pinion pneumatic actuator, or an ISO 5211-compliant rack and pinion pneumatic actuator.
