LR Induction Bends

The company offers LR Induction Bends. Induction bending, like many engineering ideas, owes its success to its inherent simplicity and effectiveness. It is a controlled process of bending pipes through the application of induction heating to a localised cross section of pipe, using high frequency induced electrical current. An induction coil is placed around the pipe to be bent. The coil heats a narrow, circumferential zone of pipe to the appropriate bending temperature between 730°C and 1100°C, depending on the pipe material type. When this temperature is reached, the pipe is continuously, gradually moved through the heating ring while a bending moment is applied to the heated area. After bending, the pipe may be either forced or naturally cooled, as required by the applicable qualified bending procedure. Advantages: improved quality as induction bends have precise dimensional controls and accuracies (radius, angle, ovality, wall thinning), uniform mechanical properties (uniform hardness) and better surface finish (no pipe wrinkling and warping, reduced oxidation or de-carbonisation due to instantaneous heating, little impurities or scratches on the inner surface) compared to bends from other techniques; integrity of pipe work – induction bending reduces the need for welded or mechanical joints, resulting in superior integrity of the finished pipe work; save time, making the process cost effective; offers processing flexibility as a wide range of type, quality, wall thickness and diameter materials can be processed; achieves pipe work design optimisation.
