Witzenmann GmbH was established in 1854 as a jewellery manufacturer in Pforzheim, southern Germany, by Heinrich Witzenmann, who later invented the metal hose in the year 1885 along with Eugène Levavasseur. The company, and its daughter concern, Witzenmann India, offers a range of metal hoses, expansion joints, metal hose expansion joints, double-walled welded metal hoses and expansion joints, metal bellows and multi-ply axial expansion joints for use in the chemicals industry and production plants. Witzenmann extraction and conveying hoses are strip wound metal hoses with a polygonal or round cross-section and an interlocked or engaged profile. Despite their low weight and simple installation, they are highly flexible. Their thermal stability depends on the material of the hose and the seals.
