Cartridge heaters are cylindrical electrical heating elements. Protected with a stainless steel sheath, their watt density can reach 50 W/cm2 and their surface temperature can go up to 800ºC (1472ºF). Mostly used for heating up solids such as injection presses heating plates or various tools, they can also be used for heating up water of gases under certain conditions. Widely used for manufacturing plastic and rubber parts in the car industry or in the food processing industry, etc., they are also commonly found in the chemical, electronics, medical equipments, packing. Various cartridge heater technologies are available. The choice of technology will depend on technical specifications required and the application. The company can recommend the right product for specific applications. Available technologies are: high-density cartridge heaters (HDC) for watt densities from 6.5 to 50 W/cm2; low-density cartridge heaters (LDC) for watt densities from 1 to 6.5 W/cm2. Watt density (W/cm2) can be a decision factor, but dimensions heater and conditions of use (temperature, vibrations, environment) are also important factors when making the choice between the technologies. Applications: plastic processing machineries; dies and moulds; packaging machinery; food processing; labelling machineries and a lot of other applications. Features: sheathing mat: SS304 or SS316; highly compacted construction improves heater life and reduces the effect of vibration and shock; and excellent heat transfer.
