Low humidity air conditioner

The basic vapour compression system in this combination unit has been modified to achieve energy savings of over 10,000 kWH/tonne/year, a fact that has been verified by an independent energy audit. A sensible heat recovery system provides reheat to supply air by using the return air as the energy source. A latent heat recovery system adds more heat to the supply air if necessary. Automatic dual mode operation reduces the required nominal plant size. It works at normal suction pressure for full capacity cooling. After cooling to the set temperature, instead of cutting out, it works at low suction pressure for dehumidifying, but with reduced capacity. Switching between units 1 and 2, it maintains set temperature and relative humidity. Thus the waste heat is recovered and over 60% energy saved, with a plant up to 50% smaller than the conventional method, making Comby a low cost energy saver. An electronic controller for the above functions uses a return air temperature sensor to maintain the design conditions automatically. It also has interlocks for safety. A 20? filter for the return air and 5? filter in the supply air are standard and can be easily removed for cleaning. The body is stainless steel over angle iron frame and coated steel internals. The fan motors are totally enclosed, having sealed ball bearings. The compressor is sealed type. Connected power load is 1.5 kW/tonne. It is available in air/water cooled, single/ split, direct/ductable models of 1 to 20 TR capacities. Existing plants can be retrofitted both to reduce energy cost and to increase cooling capacity.
