Coolant Fed Taps

Dormer Tools, Inc, announces a comprehensive range of coolant hole taps in blind and through hole version with TiN coating and furnished in inch or metric sizes. These taps are suited to coolant fed tap drivers such as SPV Series CGS-G tap drivers sold by Donner and available in popular machine tool sizes including VDI shanks. These taps and tap holders are designed to handle pressures up to 360 PSI, (25 bar). With the increased usage of machine tools furnished with coolant thru the tools, tapping operations are vastly improved with greater cuaing efficiency by utilising coolant fed cutting tools. Added advantages include longer tool life, (from three to six times longer), the ability to attain faster operating speeds and better chip control, especially in blind holes. The design of the thru-hole version has coolant ports at each flute just behind the cutting chamfer which effectively flushes the chips forward and out the hole for higher productivity and better thread quality.
