The inherent simplicity of a flexible screw conveyor provides a low cost, reliable and totally enclosed method of feeding product of up to 2.5 kg at throughput rates from 20 kg to 20 tonnes per hour. Product is conveyed by the Archimedean action of a steel spiral rotating within a food grade polymer tube. Being a mechanical system, freedom from airborne moisture contamination is assured and there are no filter problems. The flexibility of the system allows it to be installed over, under or around existing plant, (depending on the size of conveyor used). Flexible screw conveyors meet stringent levels of hygiene and dust containment. Quick release clamps can be provided for rapid stripping down of equipment. This may be applicable where several products are being handled for batch processes where cross contamination must be avoided. Flexible screw conveyors are an ideal method of feeding product to process vessels, mixers and packaging machine, since the smooth and consistent flow does not disrupt delicate weigh heads. Neither does separation of pre-mixes occur; in fact the mixing process is aided by the tumbling, mechanical action of the screw.
