Vijay Energy Products offers a Welding Set Energy Saver This is a simple to use energy saving device, which will save energy, improve system power factor and reduce maximum demand. Welding sets consume power even when no welding is being carried out. Switching off the welding set results in saving of power which can be any where between 1 to 2 units/hour depending upon the capacity of the welding set. If the welding set remains idle for more than the preset time interval, the unit switches off the power to the welding transformer through the contactor, which is to be provided. When the operator touches the electrode to restart welding, the unit resets the contactor and welding can be carried on. Optional facility for off delay time can be set between 20 to 60 seconds. The welding set energy saver can be used for single phase, two phases or three phase welding sets. The other advantages include cooler working of the welding set, over all improvement of system power factor, maximum demand reduction etc. Optional facility includes protection against burnouts caused by short circuits of the cables on the output side. This will mean that expensive rewinding of the welding transformers can be eliminated.
