The new G400 back gouging machine from GBC, Italy, is a light, powerful, compact and versatile grinder using either grinding belt or grinding wheels and is suitable for rapidly carrying out the main processes of taping and grinding of ferrules and typical manufactured items for boilers and pressure vessels. Mounted on a medium-low range manipulator it can carry out internal and external work processes of longitudinal and circumferential back gouging, chamfering of sheets with straight tack-welded edges, removal of weld over-thickness by taping and smoothing of plating. The G 400 reduces the time required for carrying out gouging of welds with a manual grinder by 1/3rd to 1/5th.
