  • Pump bowls are made of close grained cast iron free of any detrimental foundry or other defects
  • Bowls may be enamelled for longer life, if desired
  • The impellers shall be of bronze enclosed or semi-open type statically and dynamically balanced;
  • They shall be securely fastened to the pump shaft with tapered lock collets
  • Enclosed type impellers shall be fitted with shrink fitted seal rings
  • The position of the impellers with respect to pump bowls shall be adjusted vertically by means of an adjusting nut
  • The pump impeller shaft is made of precision ground stainless steel supported by bearings above and below each impeller
  • The suction case bearing is extra long, grease packed and protected by sand collar
  • Column pipes are of mild steel as per IS 1978/IS 2062 nominal lengths not exceeding 3 mtr each
  • Top and bottom column pipes are of 1.5 mtr length for ease of installation; pipe size is so selected that friction loss will not exceed 1.5 mtr per 30 mtr of column assembly. Pumps operating at speed more than 1800 RPM shall have column assembly in 1.5 mtr sections
  • The pump is provided with a surface (or underground) discharge head with its top flange to suit the driver base
  • The thrust bearing may be either in pump or in drive motor, depending on service/client requirement, and anti-friction or tilting pad type – air cooled or water cooled
  • In a water-lubricated pump bearing retainer is equipped with a “snap-in” rubber bearing, spiral grooved for better shaft cleaning action
  • Line shafts are fitted with a stainless steel shaft sleeve at bearing locations
  • For oil lubricated construction, a heavy steel tube as per IS: 1978 protects the shaft from corrosion and foreign matters
  • Threaded bronze bearings are provided at intervals of 1.5 mtr
  • Reinforced rubber spiders centre the shaft and tube assembly in the column pipe
  • Oil lubricated pumps have speed less than 1800 RPM
