Van Norman Machine offers cylinder-head Valve Seat & Guide Machining Centre, Model 044. This is used for precisely machining intake and exhaust valve. With newly developed tooling available, it is now possible to machine all three angles of valve seats simultaneously. Valve seat to guide concentricity is controlled within 0.015 mm. Surface finish and accurate machining of Valve Seat angles using this system eliminates post-lapping of valve seats with corresponding valves which has been a usual practice in the industries so far. Even at OEM levels lapping compound used impregnates into seat ring surface and disrupts the flow of heat from the valve, thereby running dangerously hot and eventually leading to pre-mature cylinder head failure. Also this system offers -Dead Pilot-design, which contributes to much higher degree of accuracy and concentricity between valve seat and guide if compared to live pilot- designs being offered earlier.
