The Vacuubrand Chemistry-Hybrid-Vacuum Pump, RC5, from Vacuubrand GmbH + Co, Germany, is basically an oil sealed sliding vane rotary pump with two rotary stages. The outlet of the second stage as well as the oil reservoir are permanently pumped by specific corrosion-resistant two-stage diaphragm pump mounted on the same two-shafted motor. By evacuating the oil sealed stages, condensation in this sensitive part is avoided, partial pressure of corrosive gases is considerably reduced and the oil- is permanently distilled. The RC5 pump has a displacement of 5.6 m3/hr and can achieve ultimate vacuum of 4 x 10-4 mbar. Gas ballast facility is provided as standard on the pump. The RC5 is especially useful in applications involving pumping out corrosive and condensable gases. It has specific advantages such as: Operation without cooling trap; Effective and effortless condensation and recovery of hazardous vapours at the exhaust (approximately 95% solvent recovery is possible); Minor corrosion while working with aggressive vapours; Highly reduced amount of waste oil, efficient recovery and safe disposal of condensator; More safety: IP54 motor protection ensures high splash protection, an overload circuit breaker is also provided. The RC5 Chemistry-Hybrid-Pump gives the vacuum performance of a double-stage oil sealed rotary vane pump for lyophilisation, distillation, vacuum-drying ovens and centrifugal evaporators.
