The maintenance engineer can carry to the jobsite small set with Thread Repair Tools - like 1017 (4 tools) and that will allow him to replace more than 600 taps & dies or over 1000 taps & dies if he choose to take Set 1025 (6 tools).

Internal Thread Repair Tools

External Thread Repair Tools
The External Thread repair tools are using 2 blades that are floating enough to find the right measurement and Pitch of the original thread given, once in place all the “job†is to rotate the tool in the right given direction (marked with an arrow). That movement will fix the thread slot and recondition its form to the original shape. Special accessory to fix Keyways is available for Nes 3. That accessory once using it, is the only & the best tool to fix large thread shafts that incorporate Keyway slots, it does it easily, smoothly with great results.
