Portex Technologies offers self-resetting Thermal Protection Cut-Outs, Models BPM. This marvel of precision engineering and miniaturisation is the smallest model in range. The internal mechanism is all spot welded on a stainless steel housing plate. Due to sophisticated materials used and intelligent design, the size has been reduced without affecting the current capacity. The outer body is made of high temperature resistant engineering polymer. Lead wires are Teflon insulated, sealed and resistant to moisture, gases, fumes and varnish. Due to small size the response to temperature is fast, thereby ensuring complete protection during rapid temperature rise, for example in locked rotor condition of motors. Applications: single phase and 3-phase motors, transformers and all over-temperature protection applications especially where there are space limitations. This model is also designed for battery pack protection. The body has sloping edges on one side so as to fit perfectly between battery cells. In case of battery overheat due to overcharge or excessive charging current, the cut-out will trip and protect the battery pack from damage.
