This helps in preventing solids from accumulating and solidifying in the outlet nozzle neck by stopping the discharge of the vessel contents. Moreover, it also prevents the accumulation of unreacted material in the nozzle. These are sized by the valve outlet size that is mostly smaller than the inlet connection, which mates with the vessel nozzle.
