Superfinishing unit is a very powerful tool for maintaining surface structure characteristics. In order to control the manufacturing process or predict component behaviour during use, it is necessary to maintain surface characteristics by using surface texture parameters. Excel is using microfinishing film as a tool. The surface finish is achieved via micro finishing film. These belts are 15-50 m long and available in different width and grids. The film runs over a pinch roll made of polyurethane, which moves oscillating along the work piece axis at the work piece surface. A constant surface finish on the entire surface is achieved because of the continuous feed of new abrasives. The film feed is controlled by a very precise electronically speed controlled unit to film winding motor. Also the oscillation frequency is adjustable. User-friendly controls of oscillation frequency, the right feed of the film and the revolution number of the workpiece, the desired microstructure is achieved effectively. Superfinishing unit can be used as an attachment of conventional lathes.
