Steel for Forgings

Steel for Forgings

A wide range of tool and alloy steels of EN series, bright bars, etc., are available as per specifications and drawings for forgings. Atoz Alloys caters to high profile quality conscious clients for their requirements of forgings for manufacturing of gears, hoists, cranes, machinery and hydraulic products, etc. The company has ready stock for all the grades of carbon steel and alloy steel like EN-8, EN-9, EN-19, EN-24, EN-353, SAE-4140, SAE 52100, etc; and case handling steels like SAE 8620, 20 MNCR5, etc, and die steels like HCHCR, OHNS, etc. Preliminary material segments are cut off in a required length by hacksaws and band saws. In preparation for forging, the preliminary segments must be heated up to 1200°C. Forging is the process by which metal is heated and is shaped by plastic deformation by suitably applying compressive force. Usually the compressive force is in the form of hammer blows using a power hammer or a press. Accordingly the raw material is changed to circles, blocks, flats, rings, etc., as per the customer requirement.
