Spur Gears

Spur Gears

Spur Gears are the most common type of gear. The teeth on spur gears are 90° to the side, or face, of the gear. This requires that spur gears run parallel to one another. Spur gears can be arranged in long trains to meet required ratio reductions as well as maintained required size constrictions. The larger of two gears are typically called the gear, with the smaller one being a pinion.
