Traxit Engineers Pvt Ltd manufactures appropriate process engineering technology through Specialised Process Machinery. The company specialises in unit operations of mixing and drying. Four examples of such process machinery are presented here: 1. Vertical ribbon blender - Designed for a multinational company manufacturing water filters. They had a problem with the carbon cartridge manufacturing process for scaling up the manufacturing process to double the production. The mixer blender the company was using had several drawbacks as the granular mixture could not be totally unloaded in spite of the equipment having a tilting mechanism. Traxit suggested a Vertical Ribbon Blender to overcome all drawbacks. The equipment consists of a vertical circular cylinder with a bottom cone. Inside is a single flight of ribbons, which moves the material from the bottom to the top. On reaching the top the material comes down by gravity; this vertical up and down motion gives good mixing and also there is no breakage of granules. As the equipment is vertical the discharge completes through a bottom discharge valve. 2. Organic waste converter – based on a bio culture developed by M/s Excel Industries Ltd. This company has developed a bio culture which when intimately mixed with organic waste (like pre-cooked and post-cooked food, garden waste, etc), the organic waste gets converted into organic fertilizer. The amount of bio-culture for the above application was one gram for every kg of waste and also the waste being highly heterogeneous the mixing had to be very intimate. Engineers at Traxit studied their application and developed a mechanically generated fluid bed mixer. These units are now installed in industrial canteens, 5 star hotels, temples, wholesale vegetable markets, and housing societies, etc. 3. Double planetary vacuum mixer – designed for Armani Electrodynamics, a Pune based inverter battery manufacturer. The company had a problem with the lead pasted mixing process with the acid with their existing mixer, with the leaking seal resulting in spillage and losses. With a double planetary vacuum mixer with some design changes, the problem was solved and the client satisfied as production increased by 15% with the same quantity of raw materials. 4. Disperser – designed for German company Carl Beecham’s plant in India. The company wanted a sigma mixer, but Traxit suggested that the application did not need expensive and heavy equipment like a sigma mixer and instead suggested a vertical disperser. A 50-ltr model was designed for trial and the samples were sent to Germany for testing. The result was quite satisfactory and based on that a production model was manufactured.
