They are basically a three dimensional array of elements, aesthetically rich and structurally sound to resist the loads applied at any point in any direction, by virtue of their geometry – a simplified space frame roof with the half-octahedron highlighted in blue. Space frame or space structure is a truss-like, lightweight rigid structure constructed from interlocking struts in a geometric pattern. Space frames usually utilize a multidirectional span, and are often used to accomplish long spans with very few supports. They derive their strength from the inherent rigidity of the triangular framing. The flexing loads (bending moments) are transmitted as tension and compression loads along the length of each strut. Global Shades was established in the year 2006 as a company specialised in design and fabrication of space frames. Global Shades is an association of a major steel manufacturer, a seasoned architect and a dynamic works contractor with experienced engineers specialized in structural engineering.
