AFTC SilverTape is currently used in Volkswagen, Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, Ford, Volvo, etc. 20 years ago most cars were produced and assembled using screws, rivets, welds and other traditional methods of bonding, adhesive tape has taken over 75% of these applications. In modern cars, an average of 1.5 mm adhesive tape is used for bonding several parts such as body side moldings, mirrors, antennas, wheel covers etc. AFTC has developed several different kinds of acrylic foam tapes for the automotive industry. As the substrates have changed over the years from basic aluminum bonds, through plastics and eventually low surface energy substrates like ceramic car paints, silicones, Teflon en different rubber sorts, the adhesive tapes had to evolve with these developments. AFTC Automotive SilverTapes can be divided into five different kinds: AFT-AM93 Series – glass, aluminum, steel; AFT-AM94 Series – plastics, PVC; AFT-AM96 Series – LSE ceramics, silicones, Teflon; AFT-AM97 Series – open side glass, aluminum, steel liner side LSE EPDM; and AFT-AM98 Series – LSE EPDM
