Rotoflo Discharge Systems
The Rotoflo discharge system represents a major advance in materials handling technology, drawing on over 50 years technical expertise, design, materials research and manufacturing resources available at Portasilo. This provides highly efficient, reliable and controlled flow of difficult materials, including very cohesive materials, without incurring the complications, costs or side effects associated with vibration or aeration. It represents a cost-effective solution to the common problems associated with discharging difficult materials from storage vessels, including bridging, 'rat-holing' and stagnant zones. The versatile system can be manufactured from mild steel, stainless steel or mild steel clad with stainless steel, with food quality finishes available. It is suitable for new-build or retro-fit applications and achieves complete, controlled and pulse-free discharge – even of sludges, coagulates or fibrous materials. The unit can be supplied with multiple outlets for simultaneous or alternate feeding of up to four feed points. Right-angle drives are available for restricted spaces. Alternative drive options include dual speed for weighing applications and variable speed for process control. All maintainable items can be serviced without emptying the storage vessel, including the externally mounted gearbox. The low profile design makes the Rotoflo discharger ideal for plants where headroom is at a premium. Rotoflo discharge systems reduce operating costs by: increasing live storage volume in the storage vessel, reducing the need for downstream metering equipment, lowering power consumption, and allowing maintenance access without emptying the silo.
