Reverse Buckling Bursting Discs

Reverse Buckling Bursting Discs

Reverse Buckling Bursting Discs are used in applications containing alternating or high temperatures or alternating loads. These discs work according to the Euler buckling pin principle. These discs are cambered against the pressure direction, and on reaching the burst pressure, the disc buckles and opens at a pre-scored fracture line.

  • Resistant to high operating, alternating loads and high operating temperatures because they are scored full-metal discs
  • More durable because material creep and fatigue are considerably less than in the case of bursting discs subjected to tensile loading
  • Stable over a wide temperature range because the elasticity modulus is also less temperature dependent than the tensile strength
  • Have a higher minimum burst pressure than in case of a composite bursting disc
  • Must have a gas cushion underneath the bursting disc
  • Require a holder so that the burst pressure of the disc can be guaranteed
