The Pune-based company started operation in 1990. It is promoted by an entrepreneur with an academic background, who did his doctorate from the University of Pune in lasers, worked in industry for a brief while before pursuing post-doctorate research in high power lasers in UK for 5 years. After returning back from UK he started SIL. Today, the company manufactures a wide range of products including industrial lasers for material processing applications such as cutting, welding, drilling, marking, engraving etc, Laser accessories and educational kits.
