Anergy Instruments has introduced an Astro-Switch for street lighting and similar applications. It is not time based, those timers have to be reprogrammed every day to keep them aligned to sunset and sunrise times. Astro-Switch works on astronomical principles, i.e., based on the earth’s orbit around the sun and rotation on its own axis. It accepts the longitude and latitude data to determine the location of Astro-Switch on the earth and then calculates the sunset and sunrise times. The connected lights are switched On and Off accurately everyday, all around the year, preventing wastage of electricity. The Astro-Switch is ideal for street lighting, commercial compound lighting, decorative/highlight lighting, advertising signages, high-tower avionic lighting, stair-cases, patios, courtyards, gardens, common living areas, or any lighting that has to be switched On at sunset and switched Off at sunrise.
