These pumps are basically manufactured with three or five cylinders. If we look at higher pressures above 100 bar, plungers become more important than pistons. Mass-produced plunger pumps of small power inputs are not covered in detail. But in general, these small pumps are similar to bigger industrial pumps. 1. Heat exchanger cleaning – in food industry, cleaning of heat exchanger is part of the daily business. Blocked bundles reduce the exchange of heat and the resulting efficiency. Normally, a pressure of between 1000 and 1200 bar is required for cleaning heat exchanger in the food industry, in order to achieve an effective work performance (good cleaning result in an acceptable time limit.) to meet the requirement of the customer.
2. Evaporator cleaning – during the production of fruit syrup the fluid has to be thickened. This process is carried out in so-called evaporators. The tubes of evaporators become blocked in the course of some months. When they are fully blocked, the production comes to a standstill.
