Phase Shifting Transformers
Supreme Instrument Laboratories offers Phase Shifting Transformers. These are special transformers, which provide convenient means to adjust phase angle (power factor) of AC loading circuit while testing power factor sensitive devices for the full 90 degree LAG through '0' degree to 90 degree lead. Based on their rating these phase shifters are manufactured in two configurations: rotor induction phase shifter for capacity 600 VA; and static network phase shifter for capacity 600 VA and above. These phase shifters operate on three-phase power and provide 3-phase or 1 phase output voltage with continuously variable phase angle. The control of the phase angle is made with reference to the phase and phase sequence of the supply voltage.

- Since the phase shifter provides 3-phase output voltage with adjustable phase angle, the same can be used in laboratories and factories as an accessory for testing electricity meters (kWH meters), indicating instruments (Wattmeters, power factor meters, etc), and protective relays with Wattmetric elements-reactance relays
- It can also be used as aid in technical institutions to demonstrate the operation of power factor sensitive electrical devices
