PLA Electro Appliances Pvt Ltd, a Mumbai based company has set up India's first AERB recognised Nuclear Radiation Meter Calibration Lab (0-5 R/h) as per rule 29 of atomic energy (Radiation Protection) rules, 2004. This is the only lab in India of its kind. This lab is authorised to calibrate radiation meters irrespective of its make and country of origin. Radiation meters must be calibrated periodically (annually) as per AERB norms. The company, founded in 1965 by young engineers in a garage, now has a spacious 10,000 sq.ft factory in a central suburb of Mumbai, the nuclear capital of India. This strategic location provides easy access to various resources like consultants and scientists, test laboratories and research centres. It has all the infrastructure under one roof required for development, manufacturing/supplying, technical support, installing and servicing of radiation monitors. This includes in-house radiation calibration lab having good collection of various radioactive isotopes of different energies, activities, shapes and sizes, certified radiation safety officers, experienced engineers, latest electronic equipment, mechanical workshop, environmental test setup and software development facility.
