Customised Technologies has developed a revolutionary non-contact Contour Tracer on its Rapid-I, vision measuring systems platform. One has to place the component on the work-stage, choose the area of interest and click a button. The system uses the auto-focus depth measuring capability to discern the depths at different points on the surface and shows up the profile as cloud-points on the CAD window. The user can also fit lines, arcs or other geometries and take advantage of the complete virtual geometry toolkit available in Rapid-I 5.0 software for deciphering component geometries and fix manufacturing issues quickly. Non-contact contour tracing is used for non-destructive, non-contact measurements of intricate profiles. It has an added advantage of not distorting or scoring on components like rubber.
