AICON 3D Systems offers Measuring Adapters, a patented product. At first sight, they look like simple dice – but in fact, they are highly precise measuring equipment: AICON’s measuring adapters for the measurement of geometric features such as holes, edges, corners or surface points. AICON patent is now clearly readable on every adapter. The patented adapters are applied for 3D coordinate measurements with a hand-held digital camera, as for example the AICON measurement system DPA. In such a measurement, several photos of the object are taken from different directions. These photos are automatically analysed. As a result, the user gets processable 3D data, accurate to the micrometer. Typical fields of application are inspection, deformation measurement, referencing of 3D scanners, and component alignment. The measurement adapters are used to signalise the required measuring points. Users of the DPA system appreciate AICON’s measuring adapters for their high precision and user-independence. They can be measured from all directions, without manual alignment as with other manufacturers. Furthermore, they include many different interfaces to the measured geometries and a fully automatic identification. The adapters are quickly usable and very robust. The measurement is highly reliable even in production environment with dust and vibrations.
