Macromol Products offers Masking Paste, MP 930 an anti carb paste. MP 930 masking paste is a water-based paste applied on to steel parts undergoing carburising cycle at 920-950 where selective carburising is done in a pit type gas carburising Furnace on specific areas of interest during heat treatment. The hardness on paste-applied areas may be nil or too low compared to non applied areas. The thickness of the coating applied will be dependent on the case depth of the cycle processed. Desired thickness can be achieved by single or two coats. This method of preventing carbon pick up is better than the earlier conventional methods of copper coating for many obvious reasons which are known to experienced metallurgists. The details of application can be had from the manufacturer on request. Typical applications include in heat treatment of gears, steel balls, etc.
