EMCO Limited manufactures a range of Locomotive and Traction Power Transformers. Locomotive transformers are available in 1-phase and 3-phase versions up to 7500 kVA, 25 kV class, which is the largest rating being used in India. These transformers are of low weight and compact in size. The company also manufactures traction power transformers for the Indian Railways up to 42 MVA, 220 kV class. These transformers are single phase double limb wound construction and are specially designed and tested to withstand frequent short-circuits and overloading. EMCO Limited, established in 1964, has evolved itself into a formidable force in the power sector in India. It is one of the few manufacturers who have been approved by Indian Railways. The company has 6 state-of-the-art manufacturing plants and 15 offices across India.
