Locking Connectors


The Conxrite® CNX V Series is a single or dual row, male pin header designed to provide a positive locking method of securing connectors to a printed circuit board. Previously, there were three categories of headers with the prices and styles varying in each. The first header introduced to the market was a simple vertical PCB-mounted pin. As equipment evolved, engineers required a more effective method of retaining the connector and header together. This prompted the introduction of the friction lock header. To accomplish this, a design change was made adding a friction tab to the side of the header base. In fact, this locking mechanism is not truly positive in nature but rather a method of adding friction pressure to the side of the header connector increasing the extraction force required. VCC's CNX V Series header has been developed to fill the gap between the low cost friction header and the more expensive positive locking header.
