Efficient Toroidal Coil Corporation has launched ETC brand potentiometric Linear/Circular Transducers. Transducers are extensively used for measurement and control instrumentation in all scientific and industrial fields. Potentiometric displacement transducers are relatively simple devices in which a sliding contact (wiper) is attached to or otherwise linked with the sensing shaft, moves over the resistance element. The wiper is electrically isolated from the sensing shaft. Transducers exist for linear/angular displacement measurements. The potentiometer element is wire wound (typically with a platinum or nickel alloy wire). The resolution steps are given by the wire turns per unit length. Wiper designs, variation in resistance material produces various ranges of values. Single rotation transducers designed with mechanical end stops; or for continuous rotations in either case the presence of excitation terminals at the end of the resistive element limits their active range to 355° ±2°. Linear motion transducers have high application for displacement measurement in laboratories, industries, position feedback in valves, linear actuators, cylinders, programmable stopper in machine tools, plastic injection moulding machines.
