Laser Welding Of Sensors


Laser welding is one of the most important applications for laser processing technology, including pulse laser welding and continuous laser welding. Pulse laser is mainly applied in spot welding and seam welding of the metal sheet within 1 mm. It is a heat transmitting process for welding. Laser radiation heats up the surface of workpiece and the heat diffuses into the material. By controlling the waveform, length, the peak power and frequency of pulse laser, workpieces can be connected in high quality. This is used in machinery, automobile and ship manufacture. At the same time, low power laser, varying from tens or hundreds of watt, is possible to use in plastic welding and laser brazing. In the sensor industry, some traditional welding methods such as plasma welding, argon arc welding and high-frequency welding were usually adopted for seal welding earlier, which are generally touch welding and may need auxiliary materials, with the disadvantages of: large deformation, high heat-generation and large heat-affected zone which easily caused damage of internal components, instable welding quality and appearance, and non-environmental materials with welding dust. Advanced laser welding can effectively overcome the problems of large deformation and high temperature rise, so as to solve a series of problems in traditional welding.
