- A notched sample is generally used to determine impact strength; the test determines the amount of energy absorbed by a material.
- Sixteen characters by 2 lines backlighted LCD display; four keys; angle measurement by encoder (500 ppr two output pulses); selection of hammer range (four types); programmable thickness and width of the sample
- Selectable range of unit to display the break energy in - joules (j), joules/cm^2 (j/cm^2), Joules/metre (j/m) and pounds/square inch (psi)
- Nonvolatile memory for storage of selected range, programmed thickness, programmed width and the selected unit for break energy
